This is Tax Freedom Day.
Turns out we’re paying more now than before the pandemic.
This year, the average Canadian family earning $140,000 will pay over $64,000 in taxes or 46% or close to half of their income.
June 19th marks the date when Canadians start working for themselves rather than the government according to the Fraser Institute.
So if you paid all your taxes up front for this year, you’d pay the government every dollar you earned until today and now you get to work for yourself.
And all signs point to rising taxes in the future.
