The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra, led by Winnipeg-born conductor Keri Lyn Wilson, has announced a European tour for the second straight summer.

 

The orchestra will appear in eight cities in Europe and Britain in support of Ukraine’s war effort against Russia.

Musicians include members of the Kyiv National Opera, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra and Kharkiv Opera.  Wilson says all but a dozen of the 74 musicians are holdovers from last summer.

The tour opens August 20th in Warsaw..  Four days later the orchestra performs in Berlin in a concert that coincides with Ukrainian Independence Day.  The tour concludes in London September 3rd.

Wilson is the 56-year old Canadian-Ukrainian wife of New York Metropolitan Opera general manager Peter Gelb.
