There are three new categories and some movement coming to the Grammy Awards.

There will be new awards handed out in pop dance recording, African music performance and alternative jazz albums which brings the total number of categories to 94.

The categories of “producer of the year, non-classical” and “songwriter of the year, non-classical” will move to the general field, which also includes album, record and song of the year as well as best new artist.

Recording Academy members can vote in up to ten categories across three genre fields, but they are instructed to vote in categories where they have expertise.

The entire voting body votes for the general field.
