He was the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist who was best known for penning “No Country for Old Men,” and “All the Pretty Horses.”

Cormac McCarthy was also known for the dense and brittle prose that took readers from the southern Appalachians to the American Southwest in his books.

His debut novel, “The Orchard Keeper,” was published in 1965.

His 2006 novel, “The Road,”  won the 2007 Pulitzer Price for Fiction.

“No Country for Old Men, was adapted into a film in 2007 and won four Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Cormack McCarthy has died at the age of 89.
