Former US President Donald Trump has arrived at a Miami court to formally surrender ahead of his appearance on charges of illegally hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
As he arrived at court, Trump stopped and waved at supporters and chatted with staff members. Once inside the courthouse, Trump was formally booked. An aide has also been charged as a co-conspirator.
Trump supporters showed up chanting “We love Trump, God Bless America” and describe the indictment as a continuation of an anti-Trump witch hunt. But the evidence against him, contradicts those claims.
Larry Haas, Senior Fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, why Trump supporters continue to back the former president.
“If you think about the Trump movement as a traditional political following, I think you’re missing the boat, because I think this isn’t a political following, this is a cult and when you’re a member of a cult, you don’t see straight.”
It’s a stunning moment in American history as he becomes the first former president charged with federal crimes. It’s the second criminal case Trump is facing as he seeks to reclaim the White House in 2024.
Trump is the early front-runner of the 2024 Republican presidential primary, but if convicted could face a years-long prison sentence.
