A new Leger poll suggests just a third of Canadians support a now-deferred proposal from Mississauga to change the lyrics of the national anthem.

This all started when Toronto Juno winner Jully Black sang “Our home ‘on’ native land,” while singing Canada’s anthem at at the NBA All-Star game.

According to Leger, 33% of Canadians support the change from “Our home ‘and’ native land.”  Some 50% are opposed, the remained have no opinion.

Mississauga City Council has now put the motion on hold.  It was to be sent to the federal government.
