Olivia Chow is still the frontrunner in the race for Toronto’s next mayor, but there is some confusion about who’s in second place.

The latest Forum Research poll out Monday morning has Chow at 35 percent of decided voter support with Mark Saunders in second at 14 percent.

The latest Mainstreet Research poll, which was out Friday, had Olivia Chow at 29 percent of decided voter support with Ana Bailao in second at 20 percent.

In the new Forum Poll, Bailao is down the list in fourth place at 10 percent.

Forum Research President Lorne Bozinoff says while Saunders remains second in his polling, Saunders’ call to the other candidates to drop out and join him in beating Olivia Chow had little to no effect.

“Believe it or not, he got 1 percent with that,” Boznioff explained to CP24 on Friday, “He went from 13 to 14 percent, so it’s not really the game changer because no one got out. And he’s not really a leader by a huge stretch. If he was in the 20 to 25 percent range it would make sense, but for him to catch Olivia Chow at 14, he needs like four or five people to get out.”

Bozinoff says the undecided vote is still at 20 percent, but he also points out these people may not even end up voting.

The Forum survey also has housing affordability as the number one issue, with cost of living and inflation close behind.

Byelection day is in two weeks on Monday June 26th.
