Mississauga luxury home developer Pinetree Developments in Port Credit has lost its licence to build or sell homes after Ontario’s Home Construction Regulatory Authority said the developer tried to charge a buyer over $500,00 more for a home than was contractually agreed upon.
Pinetree Developments could have appealed the decision but did not.
It’s the first time a builder’s received the regulator’s most serious punishment.
The price wasn’t the only issue.
An inspection last December found falsified documents were used to obtain building permits, the developer failed to enroll homes in the provincial warranty plan, and that there was a lack of explanation when the regulator asked Pinetree Developments about the price increase.
