The Canadian theatre world is mourning the passing of legendary director Daniel Brooks.
He died Tuesday evening in Toronto after a battle with cancer.
He made a return to the stage last spring with the Canadian Stage production of “Other People” which he wrote after a ten-day silent retreat in Quebec following the diagnosis.
Over his 40-year career, Brooks was a director, writer, actor, producer and teacher., was nominated for Governor General’s Literary Award in 1992 and in 2001 was the winner of the inaugural Siminovitch Prize, which recognizes artists who have made a significant creative contribution to theatre in Canada.
Daniel Brooks was 64.
