Olivia Chow says if she wasn’t running to become Toronto’s next mayor she would cast a ballot for Josh Matlow.
But Chow also told The Morning Zoom with Sam and Jane she is the better choice because of her experience as an eight year member of parliament, which she says will help her negotiate a new federal deal for Toronto.
“Honest to God, we really need a better deal for the city,” Chow explained, “Think about it, Toronto is the biggest city in Canada. We are the financial center and it’s important that we have a source of revenue that grows with the economy and not just with the property tax.”
Chow says her priority issues match those of many Toronto voters; affordability, traffic congestion and the quality of our roads, along with safety.
Also on the campaign trail Wednesday, Ana Bailao, was on the waterfront where she announced a promise to fast track Bike Share expansion.
Later at 1pm, candidate Mitzie Hunter plans to announce “expansion to her affordable housing plan that will bring newly built communities together through health and libraries.”
