It’s good news for Canada Revenue Agency workers and Canadians, three days after the tax deadline.
According to the Public Service Alliance of Canada, a tentative deal has been reached for the 35,000 federal workers who’ve been asked to return to work by 11:30 a.m. ET Thursday after a two week strike.
Highlights of the deal have been shared on PSAC’s website, and feature a 12.6 per cent wage increase over four years, a $2500 bonus, and an optional earlier start time of 6 a.m.
There is also new language around remote work and an opportunity to receive an annual fourth week of vacation at seven years of service versus eight.
In the last day, union leaders had threatened to protest at the Federal Liberal Party convention, which begins Thursday, if government negotiators did not immediately table a new and acceptable deal.
On Monday, it was announced the other 120,000 PSAC workers, employed by the Treasury Board, had a negotiated agreement with the same terms that have now been offered to and accepted by the CRA workers.
