With just five days to go until the coronation of King Charles III, royal super fans are already lining up in London.

And if you’re planning to get up early and watch the coronation on television, you will be asked by the archbishop to vocally pledge allegiance to King Charles and his successors.

Critics call the oath offensive and tone deaf, pointing out that it asks people to swear allegiance to Prince Andrew. Despite being stripped of his royal titles, he is still technically a successor.

The cost of the coronation is also drawing criticism, reportedly costing taxpayers $125-million (U.S.) as the public faces a higher cost of living with historic inflation.

King Charles and the Queen Consort Camilla are scheduled to leave Buckingham Palace for Westminster Abbey Saturday at 10:20 local time, 5:20am here in Toronto.
