Almost nine years after Johnny Winter’s death, a battle for control of the legendary blues guitarist’s music is being fought in court.

Jury members have heard allegations of theft and greed flying back and forth as the court trial continues.

The legal fight pits Winter’s former personal manager and bandmate, Paul Nelson, against the family of Winter’s late wife, Susan, who passed away four years ago.

Winter’s family say Nelson and his wife took more than $1.5 million from Winter’s music business, and allegedly auctioned off some of the late musician’s guitars.

At stake is ownership of Winters music catalogue, proceeds from record and merchandise sales, and authority to approve any commercial use of his music.

Winter died in 2014 at age 70 while on tour and staying at a hotel just outside Zurich, Switzerland.
