The Commons Election Interference Committee has heard from the former president of the Trudeau Foundation, who said things got heated when she looked to have details of an alleged China-linked donation in 2016 investigated.
Pascale Fournier told committee MPs her calls for a probe by lawyers and accountants, and for directors on the board at the time to recuse themselves on the matter, led to a split in the foundation’s board and her resignation, along with those of several others.
”The meetings with the board were a little rough and heated.  Things were said about me that I believe were not justified,” Fournier said.
More light’s expected to be shed on the donation Wednesday when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s brother Alexandre (Sacha), who was involved in the donation, is scheduled to testify.
The prime minister has repeated said he has not been involved with the foundation that bears his father’s name for a decade and was not involved at the time of the donation.
The Commons committee has also voted to call Edward Johnson, a founding member of the foundation and a former aide to Pierre Trudeau, to testify.
