Over 550 vehicles have been recovered and more 300 criminal charges laid in the ongoing Toronto Police investigation called PROJECT STALLION.

Toronto Police Superintendent Ron Taverner says vehicle thefts in Toronto have more than doubled since 2019, mostly in the west end.

“And particularly if you’re a victim of carjacking, the trauma from that event can be serious, and long lasting, Toronto police do not take these crimes lightly, and Project Stallion is proof of that.” Taverner told reporters.

More than $27 million worth of vehicles were recovered, but none that were sent abroad have been located.

Taverner offered some tips to protect against theft.

“Using the club or a similar device, a lot of people are doing that now, people are putting after market switches in their vehicle to turn the vehicle off so they can’t be started by criminals and the equipment they use, having camera systems in their homes and driveways, and blocking their vehicles in.”

Project Stallion also investigates the thefts of catalytic converters.
