A nation known for its cuisine is using pots and pans to voice its opposition to the pension reforms proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Demonstrations against the 62-to-64 retirement age increase have evolved from throwing paving stones, fleeing tear gas and waving placards to something more in tune with the culinary culture of the country: banging pots and pans together loudly.

The ”casserolade”, a very Gallic gastronomic cacophony, started last week in front of hundreds of locales, mostly in and around town halls, during a televised speech by Macron.

An anti-capitalist activist organization has scheduled another pan beating for Monday at 8:00 p.m. throughout France.
