Elon Musk’s latest SpaceX rocket exploded in mid air after its launch over Texas Thursday.

The test flight was the first for Starship mounted atop the company’s new Super Heavy rocket booster, which SpaceX has touted as the world’s most powerful.

Former NASA astronaut Cady Coleman says that, even though the explosion was disappointing, the real success was getting the rocket launched into the air.

“We are absolutely a big step ahead, even though it’s not as many steps as we planned to take today, we are definitely a step ahead and that is because so many things had to go right in order for that to leave the pad.”

The rocket was carrying no passengers or cargo
