We’re expecting to hear details at 1pm Tuesday of plans by the Ford Progressive Conservatives to move the Science Centre from Don Mills and Eglinton to Ontario Place.

Premier Doug Ford will be joined by his Infrastructure and Tourism Ministers for the announcement, which he hinted at last week.

One of the Toronto mayoral hopefuls has already come out in favour of moving the Science Centre to Ontario Place.

In advance of Tuesday’s announcement, Ana Bailao has released a statement calling on the Ford Tories to guarantee the Science Centre building will be preserved and used to serve the local communities of Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park. She also says these residents should be consulted on their priorities.

Bailao has said, as mayor she would approve building 5000 new homes, including 1500 affordable homees, on the city-owned land which is now the Science Centre parking lot and on the land outside of the ravine.
