Add one more name to the race to become Toronto’s next mayor.
Chloe Brown, who placed third in the 2022 municipal election for the top job, officially registered at city hall Tuesday morning. In an interview, she said she waited to file official papers at city.
“There was a circus on opening day, so I let the circus do its thing and I wanted to just take the weekend to have some time with my family,” said Brown.
Among her priorities is advocating for affordable housing and for more civic participation.
“People want public ownership, we’re watching a lot of our public lands and we’re watching a lot of our public institutions being sold off for private development and what I’m really seeing is that people are upset at not just developers, they’re upset that they may not have a future in this city.”
Earlier today, candidate Josh Matlow announced an affordable housing plan called PUBLIC BUILD TORONTO.
Toronto voters elect a new mayor June 26th.
