Randy Bachman, founding member of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, will soon offer a look at more than 80 of his guitars at a temporary exhibit set to open in Calgary next month.
”Randy Bachman: Every Guitar Tells a Story,” will include instruments from every part of his career along with videos of the 79-year-old singer-songwriter telling the stories behind them.
Among his collection, his first guitar that he bought from a Sears catalogue when he was 13 … his signature 1959 Les Paul, that he played on hits like ”These Eyes,” ”No Time,” and ”American Woman” … his rare first-year white Stratocaster; which he played while with BTO … as well as his 1957 Gretsch electric guitar, that was stolen from a Toronto hotel in 1976 and recovered last year in Tokyo.
The exhibit at the National Music Centre, inside Studio Bell, runs from May 5 to October 1.
