He was known as the political satirist with the star-spangled piano, who spent years, lampooning, spoofing and laughing at Washington politicians.
Mark Russell, the standup comic, who called himself a ‘political cartoonist for the blind’ has died.
He spent more than 50 years teasing the political bigwigs beginning with Dwight D. Eisenhower and then kept it going through 10 succeeding president.
He was once asked if he had a team of writers and replied. “Yes, 535 of them – 100 in the Senate and 435 in the House of Representatives.”
The cause of death was complications from prostate cancer.
Mark Russell was 90.
