Pope Francis will be hospitalized for several days for treatment of a pulmonary infection after experiencing difficulty breathing in recent days.
The 86-year-old does not have COVID-19 but requires several days of therapy. The Pontiff went to a Rome hospital earlier Wednesday to undergo routine scheduled tests and was later hospitalized.
The Vatican provided no details on how long the Pope will remain in hospital but his audiences through Friday have been canceled, raising questions about Francis’ participation during the Vatican’s Holy Week activities starting Sunday.
