Is it real, or entirely false and merely an elaborate scheme to generate attention?
Former President Donald Trump said on social media that he expects to be arrested in connection with the investigation into a hush money scheme involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels. He also asked his supporters to protest any such action.
Although the post was made by Trump himself, his team has admitted it has not received any notifications from prosecutors about a pending arrest, which has left some critics skeptical as to whether this is something real, or merely something cooked up by Trump to bring more attention to himself as he gears up for another potential presidential run in 2024.
There are also those who believe Trump would actually welcome an indictment, seeing it as a way of rallying his base and creating more political divide, which could be of benefit to his future political aspirations. It’s also true that Trump’s legal team has been making preparations for a possible indictment.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office of Alvin Bragg declined to comment on Saturday.
