For the first time in decades, music lovers are abandoning the pure sound of CD’s for the snap, crackle and pop of vinyl records.
As least that’s the take away from a report that vinyl record sales out-performed CDs in the the U.S in 2022 for the first time since 1987
The Recording Industry Association of America reports over 41 million vinyl records were sold in 2022 bringing in sales in access of $1 billion.
By comparison 33 million CDs were sold bringing in just under $500 million.
The RAII says 2022 was also the 16th consecutive year of growth for vinyl record sales.
