There will be 19 new members of the American Academy of Arts and Letters come the spring.
Among the more notable is Francis Ford Coppola, the filmmaker behind “The Godfather.” Also up for induction, fiction-writer Percival Everett, actress Frances McDormand and two foreign honorary artists: Chilean poet Cecilia Vicuna and Andrey Kurkov, the Ukrainian novelist and prominent critic of the Russian invasion.
They will join such luminaries as Mark Twain and Toni Morrison in the Academy which was formed in 1898 and currently has 300 members.
The induction ceremony is set for mid-May.
