Slain OPP Constable Greg Pierzchala was remembered by two of his siblings, the provincial police commissioner and premier who spoke at his funeral at the Sadlon arena in his hometown of Barrie.
Justyna Pierzchala, the youngest of four children and only girl, says she found comfort knowing that she had three big brothers to protect her.
”Among the three, Greg took this job the most serious.  He was always making sure that I was in a good place; both mentally and physically, and was always checking to make sure that I was headed in the right direction” she adds.
Pierzchala’s family and guests along with members of the OPP, Canadian Armed Forces, and other police and emergency services and officials attended the service that was livestreamed on the OPP’s social media platforms, including YouTube.
People in Haldimand County also gathered for an in-person broadcast at the Caledonia Lions Community Centre.
The 28-year-old officer was killed in what police call an ”ambush” near Hagersville two days after Christmas, which Premier Doug Ford called another difficult reminder that a police officer’s job is one of total commitment.
