ONTARIO GETS HIT BY WINTER STORM

Warnings from everywhere as a powerful winter storm takes aim at Ontario today.

Schools are closed, police are warning against non-essential travel as rain turns to snow over the day.

Environment Canada has issued weather warnings for most of the province.

At Toronto Pearson Airport, you are being asked to check ahead to see if your flight is still leaving on time or at all.

Meantime, Hydro One says in the event of power outages, its teams are ready to respond.

Toronto Hydro has urged residents to refresh their emergency kits and says additional crews are prepared to support customers through the weekend.

The heavy snow, strong winds and possible flash-freezes for various parts of the province, could continue until Christmas Eve.
