The estranged daughters of Francesco Villi; the 73-year-old gunman in the weekend mass shooting at a Vaughan condo, say he was a ”controlling and abusive husband and father.”

The three women say they’re deeply heartbroken for the victims’ families and are in ”absolute shock and utter devastation.”

In a statement, shared by Ontario’s police watchdog; the Special Investigations Unit, they say Villi had a history of domestic abuse with the mothers of his children and his daughters, adding he had an aggressive ”Jekyl and Hyde”-type personality.

The statement says his daughters have been estranged from him for over five years after failed attempts to have some type of a relationship.

The daughters say their offers to help their father were ”continuously denied,” leaving them no choice but to cut ties.

Police say Villi killed five people, including three condo board members, before he was fatally shot by police.
Villi had a long running legal battle with the board.
Meanwhile, a vigil’s to take place in the courtyard outside Vaughan City Hall between 7:30p.m. and 9p.m. this evening.
