They likely won’t change the official story, but now available, online, are thousands of unedited U.S. Government files into the the assassination that has puzzled scholars and laypeople for years.

With the publication of some 13,000 files, the White House says more than 97% of records in the Kennedy Assassination collection are now publicly available.

No huge revelations are expected from the papers, but historians hope to learn more about the assassination.  It was officially blamed on Lee Harvey Oswald who died after being shot while in police custody two days after Kennedy was killed in Dallas, November 22nd 1963.

A law passed in 1992 required the U.S. Government to release all documents on the assassination by October 2017.

Yesterday, U.S. President Joe Biden issued an executive order authorizing the latest disclosure. However, he said the remaining 3%  will kept under wraps until June 2023 to protect against possible “identifiable harm.”
