According to a recent report, the number of journalists killed in 2022 increased by 30% over the previous year as a result of the conflict in Ukraine, the unrest in Haiti, and criminal organizations in Mexico.
According to the International Federation of Journalists, 67 journalists and media workers have died so far in 2022, up from 47 in the previous year.
The Brussels-based organization reports 375 journalists are currently imprisoned for their work, primarily in China, Myanmar, and Turkey.
Governments were urged by the group to take more decisive action to safeguard journalists and free press.
More media workers were killed covering the war in Ukraine than in any other country this year.
