According to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, conflict-torn Ukraine will eventually join the biggest security alliance in the world.

Leaders of NATO made this promise to Ukraine 14 years ago.

However, some claim that it contributed to Russia’s invasion.

Ahead to Stoltenberg’s speech, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his NATO counterparts met in Romania on Tuesday to discuss urgently needed support for Ukraine, including shipments of electrical components for the severely damaged power transmission network in the conflict-torn nation.

Since the beginning of October, targeted Russian attacks have severely damaged Ukraine’s power grid.

Vladimir Putin, according to Stoltenberg, “is trying to use winter as a weapon of war against Ukraine.”
