Two music legends, who aren’t usually connected, are about to do so because they lived in London, next to each other, albeit two centuries apart.
George Frideric Handel lived at 25 Brook Street up until his death in 1759. It was where he wrote the Messiah.
Fast forward to 1968 when American music legend Jimi Hendrix moved in next door at Number 23, the only place he said he felt truly at home when he worked with other icons of 60s music in Britain.
An organization called “Handel & Hendrix in London” has begun a $3.5 million project to refurbish and restore all of Handel’s house to the public for the first time.
The flat Hendix lived in at 23 Brook Street was restored in 2016 and opened to the public as a contrasting and complementary part of a visit to Handel’s house next door.
“Handel & Hendrix in London” opens in May of next year. Tickets go on sale in March.
