CANADA HELD SCORELESS AS IT DROPS WORLD CUP OPENER TO BELGIUM

Belgium defeated Canada 1-0 in the opening match for both countries at the World Cup in Qatar.
A goal in the 44th minute by Michy Batshuayi stood up as the game winner.
A hand ball in the 9th minute of play gave Canada a chance to take the early lead, but Alphonso Davies was stopped on the penalty shot.
Belgium is currently favoured to win Group F, which also includes 2018 finalist Croatia and Morocco, ranked 22nd in the world.
Morocco held Croatia to a 0-0 draw earlier in another strong showing by a team from an Arab country.
A day earlier, Saudi Arabia shocked Argentina 2-1, and Tunisia and Denmark played to a scoreless draw.
Morocco faces Belgium Sunday morning at 8, followed by  Canada versus Croatia at 11a.m.
In another upset, Japan beat Germany 2-1.
