We are being cautioned by the chief of the World Health Organization that the danger from COVID-19 is not over yet.

“We have come a long way and this is definitely cause for optimism,” commented Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, “But we continue to call on all governments, communities and individuals to remain vigilant.”

New World Health Organization numbers suggest the latest weekly count of COVID-19 related deaths worldwide is about 90 percent lower than levels seen nine months ago.

But that still means 9400 people died in the last week after contracting the virus.

“This is tragic because we have tools which can actually prevent these deaths from happening,” said the WHO’s Dr. Maria Kerkhove, who says COVID-19 is still circulating quite rampantly around the world.

More than 2-million cases were reported in the past 7 days, which Dr. Kerkhove says is a substantial underestimate of the true circulation.
