Doug Ford told Justin Trudeau he believed the mayor of Ottawa and the city’s police service mismanaged the ”Freedom Convoy” protests, and that reopening of the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor was the priority.

That’s some of what was in a readout of a February phone call between the premier and prime minister, that’s been presented as evidence at the public inquiry into the Emergencies Act.

After Trudeau asked how he was doing, Ford said ”the police chief and Ottawa mayor totally mismanaged this,” adding hat Toronto police and Mayor John Tory did ”a great job.”

As for the Ambassador Bridge blockade, Ford told the prime minister if he could direct police he would, but that his government would have a plan in place ”unlike Ottawa where they didn’t.”

”I’ll be up their ass with a wire brush.”

The OPP did take over and led the response to the Windsor blockade after local police requested help from the province, nearby municipal police services and federal government.

The readout of Ford and Trudeau’s phone call comes the day after a Federal court judge ruled Ford and his then solicitor-general Sylvia Jones, won’t have to testify after they challenged a summons citing parliamentary privilege.
