There’s been another dramatic turn of events at the City of Brampton.

Patrick Brown’s main challenger in Brampton’s mayoral race says she was fired from her job at Brampton City Hall Tuesday, a day after losing to Brown in the municipal election.

Nikki Kaur says in a statement provided by her lawyer, “Patrick Brown has once again tried to silence me for alleging wrongdoing and mismanagement at City Hall. I will not be silenced and will never stop standing up for what is right.”

Kaur was Brampton’s director of strategic projects, planning and building economic development and says she was terminated without explanation or notice.

A spokesperson for Patrick Brown says the city and mayor-elect would not be providing comment on the matter.

Kaur’s campaign strategist was Nick Kouvalis whom Patrick Brown says has been against him for several years.

Before the news on Kaur’s firing broke, Patrick Brown joined Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, and said now that he’s been re-elected with a majority, he can get down to business.

“Clearly, Brampton residents agreed with me,” Brown explained to Libby, “They soundly rejected mudslinging negativity and that type of attack politics.”

This is not the first time Kaur has been fired as a city of Brampton employee.

She was let go last year in the wake of making allegations of mismanagement against senior staff and accusing Patrick Brown of improperly directing her to help with Peter McKay’s failed federal Conservative leadership campaign in 2020.

Kaur was later re-instated.
