Following the resignations of Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, Britain’s poised to get its third prime minister of the year.
Rishi Sunak, the former treasury chief, will be the United Kingdom’s first leader of colour, the first Hindu to hold the position and at 42 — the youngest prime minister in over 200 years.
Sunak’s only rival, Penny Mordaunt, conceded and withdrew after failing to reach the nomination threshold of 100 Conservative lawmakers needed to remain in the race.
He will officially take over from Truss Tuesday after King Charles III asks Sunak to form a government.
