Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos says 2.8 million doses of the most up-to-date COVID-19 vaccine will begin arriving in the country next week.
This after Health Canada gave the green light to the Pfizer-BioNTech booster shot, which targets both the original coronavirus and the B-A-4 and B-A-5 strains of the Omicron variant.
Provincial governments will announce separately who’s eligible to get the shot and when.
A vast majority of all Canadians have the first two doses of a vaccine, but less than half got a third dose and 13 per cent followed up with the recommendation to get a fourth.
