Opera fans take note.
Beginning October 22nd, The Metropolitan Opera in New York is expanding its live telecasts to direct-to-home streaming in areas that don’t have movie theatre transmissions.
First up is a production of Medea.
The Met launched its high-definition telecasts to movie theatres 15 years ago and plans 10 broadcasts per season.
The Met operas will now be available for streams in 171 countries and territories beyond the 50 who have movie-theater access.
About 2000 movie theaters currently show the telecasts in Canada and the U.S.
