Theatre goers on Broadway were welcomed to The Rock one last time last night.

After five years and more than 1,700 performances, the curtain at the Schoenfeld Threatre came down for the final time on the Canadian production of “Come From Away” which was based on Gander, Newfoundland’s response to passenger planes being forced to land on 9/11.

It was originally presented at Oakville’s Sheridan College in 2012 as part of the internationally renowned incubator, the Canadian musical theatre project.

It is now the 49th longest running production in Broadway history.

A new production is set to return to Toronto in 2024.
