There is conflicting information on whether the Trudeau Liberals are preparing to ease COVID-19 restrictions for travellers at the end of the month.

It was widely reported Tuesday afternoon that vaccine requirements, random COVID testing and mandatory use of the ArriveCan app would end September 30th.

But a statement from Health Canada issued Tuesday night says there have been no decisions made and that any future easing or modification of border restrictions in Canada would be informed by a number of factors including the latest scientific data.

In addition, The Canadian Press is quoting an unidentified senior government source as saying the federal Liberal cabinet has made no decision yet on whether to renew COVID-19 vaccine mandates and mandatory random testing for travellers.

The current measures are set to expire on September 30th.

The vaccination requirement was dropped for Canadians travelling by plane or train in June, but remains in place for foreign nationals entering Canada.
