Five years after leaving office, former U.S. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle were back in the White House Wednesday for the official unveiling of their portraits.
The current president, Joe Biden, who was Obama’s Vice President hosted the event.
The portrait unveiling is a decades-long tradition, going back to 1978 when President Jimmy Carter invited his immediate predecessor, Gerald Ford, back to the White House.
The Obama unveiling event would have traditionally been held during the Trump presidency, but Donald Trump refused to hold the event.
