It’s been 45 years since the music world lost the King of Rock and Roll.
On August 16th, 1977 Elvis Presley was found dead at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee
Doctors at first said he’d died of heart failure but later investigation revealed that drug abuse was a contributing factor.
His body lay in state at Graceland and was viewed by thousands.
Elvis sold more than a billion records world wide, won three Grammy Awards and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, starred in 33 movies and left an estate worth around $5 million. It has since grown to at least ten times that amount
Elvis Presley was 42 when he died.
