Although losing the Ontario election in June was ”a humbling experience,” former Liberal leader Steven Del Duca says he’s passionate about public service and hopes to become mayor of Vaughan.
Del Duca, who’s lived there the past 35 years, says he wants to pick up where the outgoing long time mayor has left off.
”We’ve had exceptional leadership over the past 12 years from Maurizio Bevilacqua, and I want to carry on with that tradition to keep building in particular to make sure that our transportation network keeps up with the growth because traffic gridlock is a brutal, brutal program right now in the city,” said Del Duca.
With Friday’s municipal election deadline looming, six others are also seeking the job — former federal Seniors Minister and former regional councillor Deb Schulte, Vaughan councillor Sandra Yeung Racco, Parveen Bolla, Danny DeSantis, Robert Gulassarian and Lino Mancinella.
