Much of the province is under a heat warning.

Hot and humid conditions are expected Tuesday and Wednesday with daytime high in the low 30’s and humidex values in the upper thirties and even low 40’s.

The nights won’t bring much relief with lows of only about 20 degrees Celsius.

“What’s different about this heat coming up than the previous, is that they were one or two days, but when you get five days where the temperature is above 30 degrees, humidex values into the 40’s, then people begin to suffer morning, noon and night, you can’t escape it,” said David Phillips, Senior climatologist with Environment Canada.

Watch for the symptoms of heat illness that includes dizziness/fainting, nausea/vomiting and extreme thirst. Health officials say find shade, go swimming or stay in air conditioning. Make sure your pets are safe too. Slightly cooler temperatures are expected in province on Thursday.

Meantime the B-C Wildfire Service is keeping an eye on a fire burning just west of Lytton. And the Manitoba service says heat and hot weather have caused 45 blazes in the province.

Britain has shattered its record for highest temperature ever registered amid a heat wave that has seared swaths of Europe.

The U-K weather agency recorded of 40.3 degrees Tuesday  in eastern England.
