Earlier this week we told you about a one-off Bob Dylan recording of “Blowing in the Wind” that was expected to fetch more than a million dollars when it was auctioned at Christie’s in London last night.
The version at auction was recorded by the 81-year old Nobel Laureate in March of last year and was the first new studio recording of the song since Dylan wrote it in 1962.
Well, it sold last night for $1.8 million.
No word on the buyer but we’re hearing that Dylan himself figured it would be easier to sell one song for a million dollars than have that song played a million times on Spotify.
