Ontario’s top doctor says the province is set to make a decision early next week on whether to expand eligibility of fourth doses of COVID vaccines.

Dr. Kieran Moore says he anticipates word next week on whether and how to expand the rollout of fourth doses but says he’s most concerned about those who still haven’t had their third dose.

Ontario currently offers fourth doses to those aged 60 and older, immunocompromised people and Indigenous populations.

It has been under pressure to expand eligibility to all adults, as Quebec has done.

The province also intends to proceed with a plan to offer ”portable benefits” to workers who don’t have health, dental or vision coverage.

Labour Minister Monte McNaughton says the governmen is awaiting recommendations expected this month from a panel of experts on how best to implement it.

McNaughton says cabinet’s also currently discussing next steps for its temporary program offering three days of paid sick leave that’s set to expire at the end of this month.

The labour minister says the government will share next steps for paid sick leave in the coming weeks.
