Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has given a virtual address to G-7 leaders in Germany Monday, as they discuss the threat to global stability posed by Vladimir Putin’s Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The heads of the world’s most developed economies, including Prime Minister Trudeau, are dedicating their first session of the day to discussing the war and listening to Zelenskyy’s requests.
In his nightly address, Zelenskyy, spoke about the need for sophisticated military aid.
“We need a powerful air defense, modern and fully effective, which can ensure complete protection against these missiles,” Zelenskyy explained through a translator, “We talk about this everyday with our partners. There are already some agreement and partners need to move faster if they’re really partners and not observers.”
Sunday, weeks of relative calm in Ukraine’s capitol was shattered with a missile attack.
Zelenskyy says a 37-year-old man was killed and his daughter and wife injured when missiles hit an apartment building yesterday.
A railroad worker was also reported killed.
The mayor of Kyiv speculates the airstrikes are “a symbolic attack” ahead of the NATO summit which begins Tuesday.
