They handed out the Tony’s in New York last night and in the process honoured acting legend Angela Lansbury with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lansbury, the star of “Murder, She Wrote,” which airs on our sister station Vision TV, didn’t attend the ceremony.

The now 96-year old already has five Tony’s on her trophy shelf and holds two Tony Award records including most wins for Best Actress in a Musical.

Lansbury has been nominated for 18 Prime-time Emmy Awards, including 12 for every season of Murder, She Wrote.  She’s also won three Oscars.

When the rest of the hardware was handed out, “A Strange Loop” took the Tony for Best Musical, “The Lehman Trilogy” was named best play.
