Here in the GTA, all of the ridings in Brampton and Mississauga now belong to Progressive Conservatives, with 2 seats in Brampton changing from NDP to PC, including the seat held by Gurratan Singh (the brother of Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh) in Brampton East.
All of the Halton Region seats are also blue.
It’s the same in York Region, including a re-election win in King-Vaughan for Education Minister Stephen Lecce, who survived that “slave auction” controversy when he was a student at Western University.
In the City of Toronto, a riding that did not go PC was Kathleen Wynne’s former seat of Don Valley West.
Voters there choose another Liberal over former Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders who was a candidate for the PCs.
Mitzie Hunter easily won her long held riding of Scarborough-Guildwood for the Liberals.
The NDP’s Marit Stiles was re-elected with a landslide victory in Davenport and already she is being asked if she would consider running for the leadership.
On Friday morning, Stiles says she would consider running for leader but there is a lot of consulting to do first.
Several familiar faces from Toronto City Hall are heading to the Ontario Legislature.
Kristyn Wong-Tam is the new NDP MPP in Toronto Centre, Mary-Margaret McMahon carried Beaches-East York for the Liberals, and Doug Ford’s nephew Michael has been elected the PC MPP for York-South Weston.
